What Did You Say: Say What ?!?!? Part 2

This is part two in the series statements I wish someone would explain to me. Like I said in part one no one is going to go unscaved here including me, because I probably say some of the dumbest things so says my wife, and children. Hey, some of my friends even say this to my face.

There really are statements that I just can’t come to terms with either because they make no sense or from what I understand of scripture they don’t tie in.

1) “I believe that God is going to call more and more people into full time ministry that never even considered that vocation.” Yes, I actually read this somewhere, and no I am not going to say where, because it is not the first time I have heard it or read it.

Start challenging pastors who would make this statement. Do they honestly believe that God is only placing the gifts of Pastor, Teacher, and Evangelist, just in the quote “Full Time Ministry”?

When are pastors going to stop and think about the impact they are having on the grass cutter, the plumber or the CIO who feel they must get to church or find a place to “do” ministry. Anyone heard of the performance trap? This statement is one of the leading causes.

2) I actually had a friend tell me a church he was visiting that the Pastor stood up and condemned a young mixed racial couple in his church for being married. Didn’t surprise me not the first time I have heard coming from the south Racial slurs, undertones or cutting remarks coming from a Pastor

All I have to say on that is here’s your sign

3) Rock music, secular movies, and anything modern have no place in the church. This is especially true in the area I live in This is so common, in fact my daughter has friends that whose parents will not let them go to church with her, because she goes to one of them heathen churches.

Yep, this is what was said to the blind man after he told of how Christ healed his eyes with mud and spit, they went “he did what.”

The same church these kids are going to, whose parents won’t allow their kids to go to church with my kid or still using methods that couldn’t reach me, how in the world do they expect to reach generation’s X and Y; and when will we understand it ain’t the methods it’s the message.

What was real funny and my wife and I shared a common laugh was when we took a relative of ours to one of these Heathen churches he walked out and said “Rock music has no place in the church” This is the same guy who has Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, among other’s in his CD collection. I am Thankful for the element these modern cotemporary churches are bringing to the arena. My daughter has another friend who now reads his bible on a regular basis, and enjoys going to church who didn’t before.

If you really think Christ was not a radical delivering a radical message, here’s a challenge for you. You know that house you just built, well I’m going to burn it down, then Ill rebuild it in three days. Hey, just joshing no need to call the police.

4) I absolutely am not sure what to do when I see Christians trying to cast demon’s out of other Christians, cry, laugh, or scream. My good friend Heather or @AliveinMe, as she is known on Twitter has been a victim of this on Twitter. One thing it does due for me it reminds me whether the church is contemporary or traditional there is a deep need for heavier discipleship to be occurring. Otherwise explain to me how a saved person can be demon possessed when Paul clearly stated we are finished sealed with the Holy Spirit in Ephesians 1:13, we are done; finito.

5) Man I am guilty of this next one praying that others will get more spiritual blessings from God.

Only Problem with that is that as my mentor is quick to remind me God has already given us all the spiritual blessings he’s going to give us. Again I did not say it Paul did in Ephesians 1:3. It is better to pray that god give us the ability and wisdom to use what he has already given us.
