Brennan Manning in his book The Signature of Jesus makes this quote.
“The reality of life for Christians men and women requires that they leave what is nailed down, obvious, and secure, and walk into the desert without rational explanations to justify their decisions or guarantee their future. Why? Solely and simply because God signals this movement and offers his promise.”
This quote for me definitely has a ring of truth as God shortened my time and my plan of preparing for a nice comfortable future with my wife. As the disease he has given me increased tenfold forcing me to sell my business for a tremendous loss; at a fraction of it’s value. Leaving me hurting physically and emotionally angry and scared. Wondering where God was taking me and my family and what the future held.
Often as God’s children we find ourselves in uncomfortable situations and seemingly up against impossible odds. We wonder why it seems God led one way only to watch it fall apart right before our eyes. Couldn’t God have made that easier, couldn’t he have moved that obstacle, doesn’t God understand how difficult this is. We think aloud and quietly these questions , as we ponder and try to come to a reasonable sense of putting this puzzle together. We find ourselves going God when you asked me to do this, go here, say this or choose this, this was not how I thought it would go, do or look. Lord why couldn’t you just leave me alone, why couldn’t you just leave me where I was, why did things have to change.
BTW Lord I am getting tired of Manna
The Israelites having left the slavery of Egypt headed to the promised land ( Shoot they had an advantage on some of us God told them where they were going and how he would provide for them. He even gave them a visible guiding cloud, man what I wouldn’t give for a visible guiding cloud at times; I am sure some of you reading this would to) being feed Manna provisions every day. Also began to rumble, to question and shout. They too could be heard saying
BTW Lord I am getting tired of Manna
One of my favorite poets and musician’s put this very concept to song. Today I share with you
